We've have been using Linkedin for a while now, and it has proved itself to be a handy business-networking tool. Here are a few reasons why:
Networking
This really is the most powerful thing anyone can do in business, it gives people access to the resources they need to succeed; other people.
Collaboration
Having access to knowledgeable people, in or out of the office increases institutional learning and encourages mass collaboration.
Recommendations
There is nothing more reassuring for a potential new client than quality recommendations. Ask clients and colleagues to Recommend you, it will boost the status of your profile as well as your ego.
Research
Use Linkedin to learn about people you are scheduled to meet before you have met them face-to-face, it helps to give you a feel for what they do, have done and the type of person they are.
Self Promotion
Making your profile public allows you to be discovered by Google. Use your personal URL to shamelessly promote your Linkedin profile, add it to your website and even your email signatures and business cards.
In short Linkedin is a great place to meet new people with a vIew to doing business, we have had a few really good leads over the past couple of months and hope to continue to do so.
An important thing to remember is to use and maintain your network, Linkedin is something that you may not use every day therefor it is easily forgotten.
