So with the Future of Web Design over we have a look back at yesterday's event and what we took away from it. There was a lot going on at this year’s event, from talks about typography on the web, tearing up the rule book when designing for clients through to a great talk about designing effective mobile interfaces.
Held at Kensington Town Hall, London, the event was a huge success pulling in some big names in the industry, and all credit to the guys at Carsonified for putting together a great day of speakers.
We attended in the hope of finding some great insights into what the web might offer in the coming year but came away feeling that although the speakers were great that we didn't get the full experience we were hoping for. It seems we are already practicing many of the techniques and best practices that were talked about... which is probably a good thing right?
The highlight of the day came from Meagan Fisher of SimpleBits. She gave a great talk about clients realisation that the mobile web is becoming more important in their online plans. Some great tips to take away in building an optimised site for mobile devices. Having recently created a mobile site for a yet to be named client, it was great to make comparisons to her approach as well as ours.
To finish off the day we were roped into helping out Mel Kirk from White Label Dating (our client to DatingAgency.com). See if you can spot us at about 1:57 in her Random Mel "Thursday Video".
Would be great to hear what anyone else thought of the event and what they took away from this so please comment.

Felt similarly to you boys -
Good day, but when your already doing these things preaching to the converted can really numb your bum.
I though Jim Coudal/Mark Boulton were fantastic as was Sabrina Dent - love her attitude. Same as last year though i really dont like the 'portfolio walk through' style talks. We know your awesome, thats why we're here - we've seen your damn awesome work before, no need to tell us about its awesomeness!
It was a great conference this year, I especially enjoyed the talk Robin from AbilityNet gave. It really drove home why we spend so much time on accessibility.
Yes we are doing the stuff they say already, but I think the conference on a whole is a good place to get inspired.
An enjoyable and inspiring day.
@Wez I agree about the "Woo! Look how good my work is" talks are a pretty useless.

Hi, i got lot of information from the "Future of Web Design". Developing a website alone doesn’t serve the purpose. For any website to be successful many aspects should be considered else the website will be a non-starter. If one focuses on what and who makes a website successful then the purpose of website is solved.
