Where to Find AI Features in WordPress

Cortex integrates into several key areas of your WordPress admin:

Block Editor (Gutenberg)

When editing posts or pages, AI controls appear directly in paragraph blocks:

  • Look for the AI button in the block toolbar
  • Available actions: Rewrite, Expand, Condense, Summarise, Professional, Personal
  • Access the AI Title Generator from the document panel (right sidebar)

Media Library

Open the Media Library and you’ll find three new tabs:

  • AI Image: Generate custom images with AI
  • AI Video: Create AI-generated videos
  • Unsplash: Search and import stock photos

ACF (Advanced Custom Fields)

If you use ACF, AI features are available in:

  • Text fields
  • Textarea fields
  • WYSIWYG editor fields

Look for the AI button in the field toolbar.

WooCommerce

When editing product descriptions:

  • AI button appears in product description fields
  • Same text transformation options as the Block Editor
  • Context awareness includes product information

Admin Menu

Navigate to Cortex AI in your WordPress admin menu to access:

  • Main Page: Configure brand voice, stop words, and alt text settings
  • Provider Settings: Set up API keys and choose AI providers/models

Prerequisites and Requirements

Required Accounts and API Keys

To use Cortex, you’ll need at least one AI provider account with an API key:

OpenAI

  • Account at platform.openai.com
  • API key from your OpenAI dashboard
  • Supports: Text (GPT models), Images (DALL-E), Videos (Sora)

Google Gemini

Stability AI

  • Account at platform.stability.ai
  • API key from Stability AI dashboard
  • Supports: Images only (Stable Diffusion Ultra)

Unsplash (Optional)

  • Free account at unsplash.com/developers
  • Access key (Client ID) for searching and importing photos
  • Not required for AI image/video generation

User Permissions

  • Administrator role required to access plugin settings
  • Editor or Author role can use AI features in content editing
  • API key management requires Administrator role capability
